Founded by the Society of Jesus in 1859, this private Catholic Jesuit research university in the Philippines, with campuses in Quezon City, Makati City, and Pasig City, is one of oldest and most prestigious universities in the country.

Its main campus is located in Loyola Heights, Quezon City, and is home to its basic education and higher education unit, The Loyola Schools. The Loyola Schools consist of the School of Humanities; the John Gokongwei School of Management; the School of Science and Engineering; and the School of Social Sciences. It has two professional schools located in Makati City — one at Rockwell, where the Ateneo Law School and the Ateneo Graduate School of Business are located, and another in Salcedo Village, where the Confucius Institute is located. Finally, the Pasig City campus in the district of Ortigas houses the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health.

The Ateneo has a wide network of international university partnerships, and every year, hundreds of students and faculty members from 50 countries go on exchange to the university and vice-versa. It is a preferred destination for continuing studies and post-graduate studies for students in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Ateneo is grounded in the Jesuit educational tradition which engages in social development. It is involved in poverty alleviation initiatives, disaster relief, educational relief, and environmental protection.

Since its establishment, the Ateneo has successfully produced high caliber graduates and maintained an excellent reputation, making it one of the most prominent universities nationwide.

The Ateneo Confucius Institute in Salcedo campus houses a collection of more than 8,000 books and multimedia resources on Chinese language, arts, culture, history, literature, contemporary Chinese society as well as some prominent periodicals in its library. It also has a Chinese Culture Experience Center that is equipped with audio-visual equipment such as LCD projectors and loudspeakers. It also features six 42’’ HD screens that show interactive exhibits about different aspects of the Chinese culture such as Kungfu, Calligraphy, Chinese folk music, Chinese food, and the Chinese Zodiac. It also has a display of cultural artifacts, instruments, and traditional costumes.
